PTO at Work

 

The Oceanport PTO collects membership dues, hosts events and fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for our schools. Do you ever wonder where all the money goes? As a 501(c)(3) organization, we spend the money we raise each year. Take a look below at some of the educational programs and equipment funded by the PTO in past years.​​

  • Technology support: smart boards, ipads, printers, etc.

  • Classroom equipment: tables, chairs, flexible seating, rugs, bulletin boards, laminator
  • Assemblies: PTO funds all assemblies in both schools

  • Physical education & recess equipment

  • Teacher & staff appreciation events

  • Classroom supply replenishment in January

  • Mini grants: author visits, artist visits, special field trips, etc.

  • Book donations to help build the school libraries and classroom libraries 

  • Drug education programs


 

2020-2021 Report

 

We are happy to report that with your support, the PTO was able to provide the following programs to the Oceanport School District this past year:

 

  • Library Donations: PTO donated books to both school libraries.
  • Appreciation: PTO hosted a week long celebration for Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week.
  • Awards, Gifts & Donations: PTO provided awards, gifts & donations to 8th grade students, Teachers & Educational Service Professionals of the Year, and retiring teachers & staff members. 
  • Special Grants Program: PTO sponsored several educational learning experiences for students including subscriptions to RazKids, John Jacobson Music Experience, Spelling City, Book Creator, Project Based Learning, and Renzulli Learning. 
  • Support: PTO provided support for students and families in need.
  • Phase 3 Re-Opening Plan: PTO sponsored the purchase of 3-panel desk dividers requested by the school as part of their re-opening plan
  • Wish List Program: Every year in June, the PTO invites teachers to submit wish list applications for classroom items that will enhance their students' educations.  Together with the Oceanport school district administration, the PTO Executive Board reviews these applications and approves the items that will provide the most benefit to students and enhance learning experiences.  The PTO will continue to accept applications for wish list items until the wish list funds are depleted.  This year's items include...
    • Electronics including smartboard speakers and document cameras
    • Classroom furniture including teaching tables, standing desks, stools, activity tables, storage solutions, wheeled carts, carpets, and flexible seating.
    • Subscriptions to educational websites & magazines including Time for Kids, Science World, Generation Genius, Choices magazine, Scholastic Storyworks magazine, and Blooket
    • Teachers Pay Teachers gift certificates for online teaching resources, activities and plans
    • Classroom books, guided reading collections, supplies, maniplulatives, educational games & activities
    • Book collections for both school libraries
    • Developmental assessment tools
    • Art supplies
    • G&T Program materials and curriculum (Brick Lab programs by Edventure)
    • Portable piano keyboard for music classes
    • Prizes for summer reading program
    • Tools and activities for speech therapy 
    • Materials for a new "sensory cove" at Wolf Hill 
    • and so much more.

 

2019-2020 Report

 

We are happy to report that with your support, the PTO was able to provide the following programs to the Oceanport School District for the 2019-2020 year:

 

  • Cultural Arts Program: PTO sponsored 9 assemblies.
  • Pick A Card Program: PTO provided each teacher with a gift card of their choice in January to help replenish classroom supplies.
  • Library Donations: PTO donated books to both school libraries.
  • Appreciation: PTO hosted a Back to School luncheon & a week long celebration for Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week.
  • Awards, Gifts & Donations: PTO provided awards, gifts & donations to 8th grade students, Teachers & Educational Service Professionals of the Year, and retiring teachers & staff members. 
  • Special Grants Program: PTO sponsored field trips and educational materials for G&T students.
  • Support: PTO provided support for students and families in need.
  • Student activities: PTO provided supplies for the Maple Place dance and orientations and hosted the Kindergarten playdate.

    • Classroom furniture including teaching tables, standing white boards, flexible seating, carpets, room dividers
    • Subscriptions to educational websites & magazines
    • Teachers Pay Teachers gift certificates for online teaching resources, activities and plans
    • Classroom book collections, supplies, educational games & activities
    • Guided reading collections for Kindergarten students
    • Developmental assessment tools
    • Art and Life Skills supplies
    • G&T Program materials and curriculum
